Mar 2, 2014 | Pronunciation Training, Spelling rules and pronunciation, Stress in words and sentences

When a word ends with a consonant plus an LE, pronounce it as one syllable.  The L sound will be pronounced, but not the E.  The E is silent.

Here are some examples:

Cradle:  Cra-dl  (long A)

Little:  Li-tl  (short i)

Bubble:  Bu-bl  (short u)
